BIOSPECTRUM: G20 Pre-Summit Metings

200 global leaders discuss future of affordable and accessible healthcare

Pulsus Group has successfully kicked off the initial meetings of the G20 Affordable and Accessible Healthcare Summit series, an initiative aimed at bringing affordable and accessible healthcare to the global stage. The meetings took place in Zurich, Switzerland and Rome, Italy on July 17th and 18th, convening some of the foremost global leaders in primary healthcare and stem cell research. These dialogues represented a critical step forward in addressing health disparities and advancing the global health agenda.

During these preliminary discussions, Vinay Tendulkar, a distinguished member of the Rajya Sabha, and Dr. Sandesh Yadav, a key player in the Ministry of Civil Aviation (AAC), paid a visit to the Pulsus headquarters in Hyderabad. They imparted their insightful thoughts on India's instrumental role in advocating for affordable and accessible healthcare on a global scale, lending their expertise and perspectives to these important dialogues.

The summit is the brainchild of Dr. Srinubabu Gedela, who expressed deep gratitude towards Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, for their invaluable support. Their backing has been instrumental in propelling these global-scale initiatives forward. This aligns harmoniously with the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is poised to guide India's role as the G20 chair in 2023.

One of the Hyderabad pre-meeting highlights was a presentation by Dr. Dame Cally Palmer, where she provided an insightful discourse on current cancer trends and the associated challenges from a G20 perspective. Moreover, Paulo Cezar Schutz shared his indispensable insights on the G20's role in promoting accessible healthcare. These insights are particularly significant as Brazil is preparing for its upcoming presidency.

The meeting was a vibrant melting pot of ideas, attracting around 200 delegates, predominantly from G20 countries. It served as a powerful platform for facilitating global discourse on healthcare accessibility and affordability. Dr. Srinubabu Gedela, Co-convenor of the meetings, conveyed his anticipation for the upcoming official launch of the G20 Affordable and Accessible Healthcare Summit series in Delhi, which marks the next critical phase of this initiative. As we move forward, it's clear that these dialogues hold the potential to shape the future of global healthcare, making it more accessible and affordable for all.
