ITALY (31 AUG – 01 SEP 2023)
Italian government has recognized the importance of cybersecurity and has made it a top priority at the national level. In 2015, they introduced the National Cybersecurity Framework (NCSF), which draws heavily from the NIST Framework for Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity. This framework serves as a standard for identifying current and future sector regulations and standards, but it is not mandatory to adopt.
NIS Directive was implemented to increase the security and resilience of network and information systems in the region. The Directive establishes minimum requirements to enhance the protection of critical infrastructures and outlines fundamental principles for Member States to develop common capacity building and strategic cooperation. Additionally, it mandates operators of essential services (OES) and digital service providers (DSP) to adhere to basic common security requirements.
The market is predicted to experience growth due to the enforcement of EU legislation and actions derived from the National Framework and the National Cybersecurity Plan. The Italian government is also planning to invest heavily in digital identity protection as part of its Digital Agenda. This move aims to heighten security levels for digital transactions and increase consumer trust, enforce online privacy and data laws to safeguard citizens' identities, and activate warning systems to alert citizens in case of security breaches.
At Global Tech Summit, cyber security will be one of the tech talks. Global Tech Summit aims to bring experts together from around the world to discuss about the latest trends and developments in technology, and how they impact cyber security.
The summit mainly highlights the importance of educating people about cyber security. Many people are still not aware of the risks associated with using technology, and may unknowingly put themselves at risk. By educating people about best practices for staying safe online, we can help reduce the number of successful cyber-attacks.
